Welcome to Wackem Fishing!

There are many good venues for Tiger fishing but most of them are two days drive away and often include several border crossings. At Corumana Dam just over the border in Mozambique, it’s a day trip from Gauteng with an afternoon session still well on the cards! At Corumana we fish the dam as well as the river below the dam wall.

Tiger fishing is good all year round, live bait works very well as well as fillets. In the river Rapala's, Effzett's and spinners can be deadly.

There are three golden rules of Tiger fishing, namely Sharp hooks, Sharp hooks and lastly Sharp hooks ! If you are going to use Effzetts which do work well, try replacing the treble with a chemically sharpened single hook.  Don’t be afraid to use big hooks. The double plate Effzett gives extra weight for casting far and make a great rattling sound in the water. Bream and Barbel fishing on light tackle is always a great challenge. The Barbel are full up and on Bass tackle will give you a good run for your money. Mozambican Bream (Blou Kurper) get nice and big here.
